A Rescue Squad crew uses hydraulic rescue tools to unwrap crushed metal from a car involved in a collision on Interstate 270 in Maryland. The crew will carefully extricate the patient and transfer her to a waiting ambulance. Rescue Squad crews are professionally trained to use lifesaving tools and to render emergency medical care at the scene and on the way to the hospital.

Mission

Now in its 70th year, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad provides our community with the security and peace of mind that comes from having emergency services that are among the best in the United States.

The Rescue Squad is a philanthropically operated, community supported organization that provides the highest level of fire, rescue, and emergency medical services for the communities of Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Upper Northwest Washington, D.C.   We are dedicated to using the utmost care, professionalism, and ethics.

To accomplish our mission, we recruit and manage a diverse corps of enthusiastic, professionally trained volunteers and staff outfitted with cutting-edge technology.

How the community helps us accomplish our mission

Thanks to the generous donations of the community, the efforts of 150 professionally trained volunteers, a staff of daytime employees, and 2 Montgomery County Paramedics, the B-CC Rescue Squad has evolved into one of the nation's most advanced and best-trained rescue squads, providing compassionate, lifesaving services to the community. The Rescue Squad does not receive regular appropriated funds from any government. Instead, the Rescue Squad raises almost all of its $2 million operating budget from individual donors, foundations, businesses, and occasional state and federal grants. The Rescue Squad is registered under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
